Message from the Chief |
On August 1, 2021, Teays Valley Fire Department’s new mission to be the primary provider of emergency ambulance services in Teays Valley began. We dedicate ourselves to provide superior customer service to the communities within TVFD’s fire protection area and to provide support to the emergency response system in Putnam County as a whole.
The TVFD began operating non-emergency ambulance transportation on September 4, 2014. As we continue to grow, we plan to build upon the invaluable experience gained during the past seven (7) years of treating and transporting patients to ensure future success. This new Chapter is part of a plan that originated in 2013, one in which we outlined improvements needed to improve the TVFD’s level of preparedness and the operations necessary to provide a higher quality of life for the people living in our communities. We are always looking to improve and operate a more efficient emergency response system and will continue to do so going forward. The TVFD began serving the Teays Valley area in 1964. In the beginning, the TVFD was organized and operated as a volunteer fire department. For decades we provided emergency services to the Teays Valley area, while also working side-by-side other fire departments in Putnam County to assist when requested. The TVFD operated as an all-volunteer organization until March 2013 when we obtained the first of three (3) grants that permitted us to hire professional firefighters. This came at a time when we were not able to respond to every call in our fire protection district due to a lack of volunteer members. Volunteer fire services are in terrible crises across this nation as the number of volunteers needed to staff these departments dwindles; this is not isolated to our region. Since hiring our first professionals eight (8) years ago, we have focused on customer service and on our vision to make the Teays Valley area a safer place to live, work, and play. Our new mission illustrates the commitment we make to this community to provide a high-level of professional service, delivered by a highly professional, trained, and motivated staff. Please stay in touch with our department. Follow us on the social media platforms you routinely use and drop by and talk to our folks when the opportunity presents itself. Kids love fire trucks! Bring them by to look around our station. We will be announcing community events soon. And please, continue to support the department and participate in our events. If you have questions, comments, or concerns please reach out to us through the channel you feel most comfortable with and help us protect our community.
